The Album Leaf is a solo project of Jimmy LaValle, which began in 1999 and is located in a post-rock kind embellished with touches of electronic music and minimal ambient, with a definite influence of the classically trained pianist this. Like many artists of the genre post-rock, The Album Leaf uses "noise" such as various field recordings or sounds of radio transmission.
The name of The Album Leaf has been borrowed from a work of Frederic Chopin (Klavierstücke in E major for piano "Albumblatt).
In 2001, The Album Leaf turned in first part of post-rock group Sigur Rós Icelandic. Thus, the third album, In A Safe Place has been recorded in the studio of the group, with the help of a number of members (mostly Sundlaughin to the pool-legendary recording studio of Sigur Rós) which Amiina, the string section. This album, the critically acclaimed, has become a benchmark electropop, to the detriment of the 4th album, Into the Blue Again (2006) , which some like a pale copy of In a Safe Place .
Jimmy LaValle is a prolific artist, which is noticeable by the number of projects he has participated as Swing Kids, Black Heart Procession, The Locust, Tristeza, GoGoGo Airheart or Telefon Tel Aviv.
The Album Leaf is a special post-rock, tempered by sometimes melancholy funeral classical pianist Jimmy LaValle. A group of "underground" that should be listed on the stock market currencies uncommon!
