Mogwai is a Scottish band formed in 1995 in Glasgow and became one of the most influential and most exposed of the post-rock scene, right from their highly acclaimed debut album Young Team in 1997. Mostly instrumental, their songs are usually based on a bass line or guitar, which are made as and when variations of the theme and other layers of sound in any genre. Always on the wire, these compositions range from atmospheric moods and sonic violence (their concerts are usually end in complete chaos, in a hail of feedback).

Originally signed to the renowned indie label Chemikal Underground, they are also distributed by Matador in the U.S., and Play It Again Sam Records in the United Kingdom. They also have their own label, Rock Action, nickname Stooges drummer Scott Ashton. Their name comes
